I'm a little confused about the indirect object pronouns le and les? Are they both masculine and feminine. If so, how do you tell the difference?

They are both masculine and feminine and you tell which by context.

You can also tell by using ""qualifying" prepositional phrases.
Le dio el libro a él. '
Le dio el libro a Ud.
Le dio el libro a ella.
Les dio el libro a ellos.
Les dio el libro a ellas.
Les dio el libro a ustedes.
