How do you say "said"? Example: (name here) said: "dialoge here" in Spanish?

In literature when they are writing dialog it appears as the following:

--Hola--Dijo Zuzanna.

Sin emargo, there is another way to write this in a non literature capacity that I read about, at the moment the correct way escapes me.

It is important to note the medium in which you are expressing this statement. If it is in article format like this:

Last night at the center of affairs for blah blah blah the president said "hello!"

Then it would be written in a separate way than in literature.
