I'm not even entirely sure if this is how you would word this in English, but I want to say,

"The cuban revolucion was a success following the ideaology of the revolutionaries"

ya tengo,

"La revolución fue un gran éxito siguiente (?) la ideología de los revolucionarios."

sé que puedo usar "segun de" tambien, pero estaba intentando usar algo differente...

qué pensais?

Was the revolution a success because it adhered to the "ideaology of the revolutionaries" or because it came after "the ideaology of the revolutionaries"? - ian-hill, Sep 14, 2009

I think the first problem is that the sentence is not correct in English. I think it should be:

"The Cuban revolution was a success, following the ideology of the revolutionaries."

With those corrections, I think the proper translation is:

"La revolución cubana fue un éxito, siguiendo la ideología de los revolucionarios."

If you wanted to say it was a "great success," you would use "gran éxito."

Unless you wanted to say (I think this might be the case):

..was a great success according to .....

This would be:

Fue un gran éxito según la ideología.....
