en vs. de

Nice to meet you

I have always heard ‘Mucho gusto en conocerte’ but I also have heard ‘Mucho gusto de conocerte

Is this a regional thing or what? And if so, which one is more popular in Mexico?

I wouldn't say that using "de" is wrong. It's just that we're so used to using and hearing "gusto en conocerte," that that's what we always expect the speaker to finish this phrase with. But if a person says "gusto de conocerte," that wouldn't make much of a difference for us.

So is using the 'de' wrong in ‘Mucho gusto de conocerte’ then?
