I need the spanish name for the engine block "deck"

Question

I need to know the Spanish name for the engine block "deck". Where the block meets the cylinder heads.

This surface is usually machined in rebuilding an engine and must be addressed specifically.

I would say "superficie de asiento de la tapa de cilindros" or "superficie superior del block". I prefer the first option though.

I was under the impression that both surfaces are machined ie, the block and the cylinder head to form a perfect match. What goes between these two surfaces is normally the cylinder head gasket. I do not know of a single word for this "gap" even in English.

Thanks for your input, but I was talking about the actual surface of the block. This needs to be machined to a specific height "decking". - sn33kyp3t3, Sep 8, 2009

Are you referring to the block surface, to the head surface, or both? I don't think there is a Spanish word for that, anyway, but I can tell you how to say it.
