Does anyone know the significance of 'no te metas'?

my wife does not speak english and she always calls "un metiche" because I always stick my nose in her business...so, I think it means "don't get involved" or "don't stick your nose in my business"...but I'm a Gringo so I'm not 100% sure
I don't know what that use of meta is, but around here they use "meta la mano" which is to play your hand, give it shot, etc. A meta is also a goal. In other words...I have no idea!!
