Endearment for a female child is 'mija' it is two words put together 'Mi, mine/ my' 'hija, daughter' "my daughter", "mija" if it is for a male child it is 'mijo' 'Mi, mine/ my, Hijo, son' My son, "Mijo"

Mi hijo/hija, fairly widely used in Spanish when addressing a person young enough to be one's son/daughter (even when there is no biological connection). In English "my son" is much more common that "my daughter" (and a simple "son", as opposed to "my son" is more common still). The usage with "my" is to the best of my knowledge, largely restricted to clerics (especially those of the Catholic persuasion).
