¿Como se dice "I got lost" en español?

Question

No nececito saber como se dice "I am lost" o "I was lost," quiero saber como se dice "I got lost." Como, "I got lost downtown earlier today."

Pero no tengo ninguna idea por que ya se como se dice como "estuve perdida" y cosas asi pero es una frase mas complicada o mas dificil a traducir, no? - hmnewlin07, Aug 26, 2009

Another hint: in many cases, the pronominal form of a verb can be used to mean "to get/be + verb". For example...

alegrar = to make happy; alegrarse = to be happy enojar = to madden; enojarse = to get mad entristecer = to sadden; entristecerse = to be sad

With that in mind, look up the word for "to lose", and "se" to the infinitive, and tell me what you get.

It's hard to attempt it when you don't know which verb to use.

some sugestions:

to get can be many different verbs in many different contexts

try thinking along the lines of encontrarse (to find oneself)

llegar a ser (to become)

descubrir (to discover)

"got" may be the correct verb in English, but it may not be the correct verb in Spanish for that context. Be creative. Spanish loves verbosity. If you have to express it as "I suddenly looked around and didn't know where I was" then... go for it.
