I've also read/heard of expressions like:

Faltan quince para las cuatro. Son las cuatro menos cuarto. (now, that's fun to say!)

And "menos cuarto" is almost an anagram of "son las cuatro"! - Toph, Aug 26, 2009

I've heard this expressed two ways:

  • Son las tres con cuarenta y cinco
  • Son las cuatro menos quince
