My Spanish is Bad

English to Spanish please.

"My Spanish is bad because I do not speak Spanish much. When I was a little girl my family did not speak Spanish much. Why? I don't know"

I think my translation is right but I want to confirm.

Thank you

Another winner from Quentin! He is on a roll today!

That is a good way to distinguish it. You should also include the following:

I don't know when.
I don't know where.
I don't know how.
I don't know who.
I don't know what.
I don't know to what extent.
I don't know how often.

Or anything else you don't know, besides "it."

Rocco,

Isn't "I don't know" "No lo sé" ?

"No lo sé." = "I don't know it." Many times in English we omit the "it." Notice the following examples:

"¿Cuál es el número de teléfono de Ana'. ? No lo sé."

What is Ana's phone number? ? I don't know it. Or, many times in English we simply say, "I don't know."

"¿Por qué no vino Marcos a tu boda? ? No sé." (You would not say, "No lo sé" here.)

Why didn't Marcos come to your wedding? ? I don't know. (You would not say, "I don't know it" here.)

¿Entiendes? Eric.

Another way to look at it is, that you don't use I don't know it when you mean I don't know why. In either case we sometimes abbreviate it to I don't know.

Ok thank you.

This isn't homework.

I have:

Mi español es malo porque no [del]me[/del] lo hablo mucho [or, no hablo español mucho]. Cuando era [del]una[/del] niña, mi familia no hablaba español mucho. ¿****Por qué? [del]yo[/del] No sé****.
Not bad, Anna. Welcome to the forums.
