I don't know any single standard word for "toddler" in Spanish. To refer to any young child, it would be "niño pequeño", but it you refer to those who are just starting to walk, you'll need a whole long phrase to explain it, something like "niño pequeño que está aprendiendo a andar".

There has to be some sort of phrase, because that is just too long - LAtINaPunKROcKerAConFundidA, Aug 25, 2009

I've heard the word "Chancleta" used for little girls (babies toddlers), and "Guagua" and "Criatura" used in general for little kids and babies. Although I don't know how accurate they are in usage.

I have also see the word "criatura". If it refers to creature rather than cría then it is very appropriate. Kind of like the "little monster). [ I have a 2 yr. old grandson]. - 0074b507, Aug 25, 2009
Yeah, it kinda does sound that way! - LAtINaPunKROcKerAConFundidA, Aug 25, 2009

You could probably call them a párvulo, but niño pequeño or pequeñito is probably the most common.

Hmmm.....SpanishDic has the word "toddler" but no translation.

Another dictionary gave me "niño de pañales," which translates to a baby in diapers.
