What is the real difference between "piso" and "suelo?"

It appears in the dictionary that "piso" means "floor" mainly in the sense of 1st floor, 2nd floor, etc., whereas "suelo" refers to the actual surface you walk on. If this is true, then why do all the mop buckets that custodial crews use say "peligro - piso mojado" on the side insteas of "suelo mojado?" I don't get it.

Thanks

I think of suelo as ground in a general sense. And, piso is the floor. So, in your example it wouldn't sound right in English to say "danger - wet ground", but, as we say it in English "danger - wet floor".
