Hi everyone

I'm not exactly a beginner in spanish, I have some practice and I can communicate to a certain extent but I'd be embarassed to write in spanish for I haven't been practicing writing at all and my spelling would be terrible.

That is because I have only picked up a little of the language and I have not studied at all

Any ideas how to cope with it'

Start typing no matter how bad you think you are and it will get better can you type this?

¡Hola y buenos días! Mi nombre es John y encantado. Hablo inglés y estoy aprendiendo español.

Can you type that and do you know what it means'

Hi everyone I am Ko-Ko I don't know spanish but I am trying to learn my son is in an all spanish class and he is learning so i figured if I learn to I can help hm with his homework if you can please help i need it all starting with the basics.

After your son has done his best effort, why not let us proofread his work. He may get some help with anything that he is having problems with and we all get to argue among ourselves as to whether he was correct or not.
Of course, I'm not trying to deter your learning Spanish. I'm sure that we will ALL learn something, yourself included.

¡Hola Ko-Ko mi nombre es Eric y bienvenido a los foros de español e inglés!

Just like English, in Spanish the basics are very easy but then it starts to get harder and harder.

¡Buena suerte!

Gracias Eric

Espero que sería posible hacer un poco de progres[del]s[/del]o

not sure that sería is the right tense or mood, but since you're only concerned with spelling corrections...

I presume "encantar" stands for being pleased to meet someone

A diary in Spanish is a good idea. Just jot down the stuff you did today and check the spelling with a dictionary. It'll give you a daily practice of writing in Spanish.

Welcome to the forum!

There is a good Lessons section on this site. Reading forum threads is a good help. The Reference articles can help with some specific concepts. And, like Eric said, have a go of it on the forums. Try something simple at first. There are friendly people around to help you. If there's anything you have a question about, you can post that in the appropriate forum, in English, if you desire.

Welcome, John.
