ok i found out that if the reputation has a "k" by it, it means that number in the thousands, but is it the same for learning points?

Yes. The letter "k" represents a thousand when placed after a number, and not just on this website, but in every day things. It's an abbreviation for the number thousand.
For example:
1k people = 1,000 people
2k books = 2,000 books
10k monkeys = 10,000 monkeys
