¿Es usted la que habla de antes?

I'm trying to ask, "Are you the one I spoke to earlier?"

Is this correct? Or is there a better way to say it?

Thanks,

Rachel

No. There are two obvious possibilities: "Are you the person who spoke before?" = "¿Eres (es usted) la persona que hablaste (habló) antes?" or Are you the person/one to whom I spoke before/earlier? = "Eres (es usted) la persona con quien hablé antes?"

Ah, that pretty much translates word for word then? - RachelC, AGO 8, 2009

Hola;

Thanks everyone. My amigo from El Salvador just told me to say:

"Es usted la persona que hablo antes?"

(not sure I spelled that all correctly.)

Probably all the ways suggested above are correct (except my original way)

I believe you can say it this way as well :

¿ Es Ud con quien yo hablé antes ?

Hmm. this sentence looks like "are you the one that I speak of before?"

I can give you some alternatives, I don't know the exact construction for what you are trying to say.

"Yo hablaba/hablé con usted antes?" Was I speaking/did I speak with you before?

Hi. This doesn't quite say what I mean. I spoke to this man earlier, and I want to ask him when I see him if he is the person I spoke with earlier. - RachelC, AGO 8, 2009
