b. to frighten
Tus gritos sobresaltaron a los niños. ¿Por qué eres tan agresivo?Your yelling frightened the kids. Why are you so aggressive?
c. to give a start
¡Luis, me sobresaltaste! No te escuché cuando entraste a la casa.Luis, you gave me a start! I didn't hear you when you came into the house.
