intransitive verb phrase
An intransitive verb phrase is a phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or other particle and does not require a direct object (e.g. Everybody please stand up.).
a. to turn on the light to read
¿Te molesta si enciendo la luz para leer? La habitación está muy oscura.Do you mind if I turn on the light to read? The room is very dark.
b. to switch on the light to read
Encendí la luz para leer, pero si vamos a ver la tele, la apago.I switched on the light to read, but if we're going to watch TV, I'll switch it off.
