intransitive verb phrase
An intransitive verb phrase is a phrase that combines a verb with a preposition or other particle and does not require a direct object (e.g. Everybody please stand up.).
a. estar enfermo
I was ill all week, so I couldn't go to work.Estuve enfermo toda la semana, así que no pude ir al trabajo.
b. está malo
A word or phrase that is commonly used in conversational speech (e.g. skinny, grandma).
Clara said she was ill, but I think she just didn't want to go to school.Clara dijo que estaba mala, pero creo solo no quería ir a la escuela.
