When my mom was sixteen years old, she gave birth to me

When my mom was sixteen years old, she gave birth to me. My grandparents and the rest of my family really helped her take care of me so that she could continue to go to school and then after high school go to nursing school.

Not many kids can say that they went to their mom's high school graduation. ?

Although I had a great childhood, most of my friends were my mom's friends, meaning high school students. I loved them all, but I really wanted some friends my own age. Unfortunately, the only way I could do this is by creating an imaginary friend.

My imaginary friend's name was Sally and she was five years old, just like me. Sally was the same height as I was and she had brown hair. She always wore a big hat and she wore overalls. We both loved sports. We both loved to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches too.

Everyday, Sally and I would have conversations, play games, and watch television together. When I went somewhere she always used to come with me. When I was riding in the car, I would put on her seatbelt and I would hold her hand. Sally had a seat at the dinner table at my grandparent's house.

My mom and her friends used to laugh at me when I was talking to my imaginary friend. When they would take me to the park, I would run and go play with Sally. The kids at the park thought I was crazy too.

But Sally was my best friend and I would not get a new friend even if I could. We used to have so much fun together.

My mom and her best friend Jenn thought that I should not have an imaginary friend. They thought I should have some real friends.

So one night at my grandparent's house, we were having a family dinner. Jenn came over for dinner too.

Jenn tried to sit on Sally's seat and I said 'No! You are sitting on Sally!?

My family laughed but Jenn did not stand up. I was screaming and crying. I said, 'Please!? but Jenn did not move.

Sally died that day. I lost my best friend. I buried Sally in the backyard where I buried my hamster. I was sad.

But, finally I made some real friends and I was really happy. I forgot about Sally my imaginary friend.

"dio" does not have an accent (since the spelling reform in 1959)
"dieciséis", "tenía" are written with accent
"jugabamos juegos" is not regarded as correct in all countries (as it is an imitation from English); "jugábamos a juegos" is more standard.

Either of the Cuando's work, but not both together.

I can help you.

Yo estaba llorando y gritando. Yo le dije "¡Por Favor!" Pero Jenn no se movió.
Sally murió ese día. Perdí a mi mejor amiga.

If this traslation is usefull for you, let me know. Good Luck!
