Hi everybody, trying to combine efforts with this thread.

This new site was set up on the 28th of March, some unpredictable problems have occurred.

If you find a bug on the site, lessons, forum, settings, anything at all, please post this here excaim

This will help us to solve them faster.

Problems we are aware of and working on:

Password change is not possible (at the moment)

Pm function only works with unique names (like mine for example, please contact me if you need anything grin )

Lost posts, we are looking into this.

I considered sending a PM to Eddy, Heidita, Paralee and Chris who are all Administrators. I added them all to my BuddyList. However when I tried to create the PM, I couldn't select the recipients from my Buddy List. In the Time Before the Big March Crash (TheTBtheBMC), I could select a number of people from my Friends List to receive my message. It would be nice to have this function back in this time after the Big March Crash. Additionally as their are at least 5 Eddy's on the member list who knows which one would have received a message sent to Eddy

Also in TheTBtheBMC there were Groups for different purposes such as "My Home Town" as well as others. It would be nice to have Groups as a function in this after time.

In TheTBtheBMC, individual user/members were able to make postings to personal Blogs found on their unique My Page. It would be nice if this could be restored in this after time

In TheTBtheBMC, it was possible for the author/initiator to delete their own threads from the forum. It would be nice to have this right restored.

I know the site is Under Construction. I can be patient. When completed, it would be nice to be able to add pics or avatars to add identity and personality to the users and in particular, frequent users.

Again, I understand the site is under construction. In TheTBtheBMC, there were opportunities for personality, colour and pizzaz to be included on individual My Page items. The new site is clinical antiseptic and absent of individuality. All of that, in my view, added to the feeling of community the site had then. It would be nice if some or all of this were to come back.

I don't suppose I'm done yet, but, I'll quit for now.

HI, no you are right.

I still cannot log in with firefox and have logged in with this account with Chrome.

We have seen there are less people, at least of the old people, but this is surely being looked into.

Thursday, April 16th

Is anyone else experiencing problems logging into the site lately? I've tried using IE, Chrome and Firefox browsers, but have been unable to log on to the site.
When I enter my account information it says that I have successfully logged on, but I cannot post, PM, do lessons, or anything else that requires ID.
I've tried PMíng the Administration, but they don't allow new account members to PM immediately. (I had to create a new account just to be able to log on to post this thread.)
Of course, if you are experienceing the same problem you will not be able to reply to this thread, but I thought I'd post the problem that I am experiencing in case the administration notices that a lot less people are on the site than normal and start looking for reasons why that is.
If this is just my personal account that is at fault (they have chosen to bar my access for some reason) then ignore this post.

HI Estavan, have a look through this thread. the problem has been solved, in theory. In my case I solved it by using a different browser. Have a look if you can do that.

Ayudas, por favor.
I keep trying to reset my password. It asked me for my new password and then my existing password. The password I am entering is the one they just issued me as a new password. I keep getting the message that the current password is invalid. I don't know what to do now.

Thanks Heidita and Christopher. grin

Maybe if there was a section for each lesson so they weren't all together (I can't remember if it was like that before or not), and if each section said how many threads were posted since the last time you viewed it would make it easier.

grin

No, it wasn't like that before.

I've made this comment before, but I suppose the idea could be suggested again. Answers to, a least, the written questions for the lessons should be posted. That way if you didn't know the answer you could, at least, find out what the correct answer is without having to post a thread asking for individual explanations.

Ohh, yea. You're right, having the answers posted somewhere would be definitely something that should be done at least.

My name is Howard. I have registered. I am now using my wife's account. However, when I go to log in...it says "wrong user name" however...when I go to log in, there is not dialogue box asking for a user name...just asks for email and password...which I enter...but then I get the error message about the user name.

my direct email is chudler@roadrunner.com if anybody knows how to help me''''

Thanks Heidita and Christopher. grin Oh, so the writing and spoken exercises are no longer posted. Those were almost my favorite part though, because then I got to see if I really understood what was taught (though I was too shy to do the spoken ones, haha). I guess only a couple people did look at them though. It was kind of hard to look through them too.

Maybe if there was a section for each lesson so they weren't all together (I can't remember if it was like that before or not), and if each section said how many threads were posted since the last time you viewed it would make it easier. Still, more people would need to help out though. I never really realized how important that was before, so I'd definitely help by replying to the things I know if this feature returned.

I think maybe a way to get more people to help would be to make a points system. Like make it so you would get some "points" each time you helped. And so people don't abuse it by posting nonsense, have it so that the person who posted the writing or spoken thing they wanted reviewed had a button to say it was helpful if the person who replied was actually helping. Only then would the helper receive the points. Then there could be a "top helpers of the month" thing and a "top helpers of all time" to show appreciation to them. So technically the points wouldn't really do anything, but I know people like things like that, and it might encourage them more. And also, so the topics don't get overflowed, it could just be an option whether you wanted those exercises posted to be reviewed or not.

But of course I have no idea how hard all that would be to actually implement. I'm just throwing some ideas out there. grin

I do know that both Quentin and Samdie used to look into the submissions lately.

However, there were so many submissions a day, that that probably clustered the site.

As for the writing exercises...They are not being posted in the forum any more as with the speaking exercises. Very rarely were they being reviewed by other users. We are working on an alternative for the review process and are certainly open to suggestions.

Don't know what you are considering, or if the numbers of Spanish and English speakers would allow it, but something being done on at least one other site is that when you submit an exercise, you can elect to send an email to other community members who are fluent in the language you are studying, asking them to please review the exercise.

HI Quentin, I dont understand you title, but ... smile

I haven't seen a post specifically made for collecting problems or error reports so I was wondering whether the Website questions and feedback was the proper category for posting such an observation?

Hi quentin, I have merged your thread with the thread specifically opened for error reports, thankssmile

I don't know if my PM's are reaching their destination or not as there seems to be problems with the Private Mail. I would suggest that anyone reply to any PM received to let the sender know that the message was received.

I miss my comment wall too, Quentin, that was great fun! confused

Your name as many others is dulpicate on the forum. Please go to settings and amend that. Just put a dot or something behind the name and you can then receive Pms. At this moment this is impossible. red face

Thank you, Becky. I am aware of these issues and we are working on them as fast as we can. But any time you find any quirk of any kind, please let us know.
