si bien......

Si bien sé cocinar muy bien, reconozco que me salió mal esta comida.

Si bien es grueso, no es obeso

I cannot think of a good translation for si bien.

i would think of :

Even though he is fat, he is not obese.

Hmmm, any suggestions'

We often use "may + verb ... but" in this meaning.

I may be a very good cook, but I realize that this meal turned out badly.
He may be fat, but he's not obese.

The idea is that the speaker grants one thing, but then states something that is at least partially contradictory.
