Please post the entire sentence, or the parts of the recipe before & after.

pozo means well as in a well of water, not as in doing something well.

In old recipes in English, it is common to see directions like this:

Mix dry ingredients. Make a well (an indentation) and add wet ingredients.

However, we need more context.

but mixing bowl is a large tazon, a large cuenco, used to mix food stuff.
