Still bringing back the smiles with the Picture of the Day. I have just a few simple rules below. Enjoy!!!

Tengo unas pocas reglas abajo. ¡Disfruta!

-Guidelines

Post your comments/titles/captions to this picture (both in Spanish and English) and vote for the responses you like. The best answer will be chosen tomorrow on the basis of the greatest number of votes as well as the language correctness.

Remember to correct your posts as suggested. Posts that are not corrected cannot be "accepted".

Recuerda corregir tus respuestas.

Please give everyone a chance and only post one caption and no photos. smile

I will advise on the English part, and I'm still looking for volunteers on the Spanish part.

Jaja, well annie, the good thing is we still have some traditional practices like this where the family will come together for prayer before a meal. I don't know if it's become a predominently southern thing now, but we do it here. =] - DJ_Huero, Jun 28, 2012
Do y'all not eat as a family in Europe? If so, you just sit down and dig in eh? jeje - DJ_Huero, Jun 28, 2012
Meal time should be a very special time together we shouldn't take for granted. - pmikan-pam, Jun 28, 2012

It reminds me of the words of a cynical surgeon: if the patient recovers they thank the Lord, our Lady and all the saints. If he doesn't, I'm the one to blame. - Castor77, Jun 29, 2012

Sing to God a thanksgiving hymn, play music on your instruments to God, Who fills the sky with clouds, preparing rain for the earth, Then turning the mountains green with grass, feeding both cattle and crows. He's not impressed with horsepower; the size of our muscles means little to him. Those who fear God get God's attention; they can depend on his strength. Psalm 147:7,11

With God all things are possible, but sometimes he uses people to help him.

Remember: it takes a whole team to bring you that food to the table.

The thing is, they don't know what his brother Lucifito did to the food before it got there.

  • We must always thank God, but we shouldn't forget to thank some people, too.

Those who deserve our gratitude don't always get it.

Dear friends, let us thank the E.U for it's subsidies , which let us eat our daily bread at a very reasonable price, because, without the subsidies, the crops wouldn't be worth the cost of harvesting them.

It is very interesting to me that in English speaking cultures it is not traditional to name children after Jesus, but in the Spanish speaking world it is quite common.

- duendecillo, Jun 28, 2012
I know, those doggone differences in culture. - rac1, Jun 28, 2012
I wish my name was Jesus. =[ Well, there's always my future son, no? - DJ_Huero, Jun 28, 2012
Very interesting duendecillo. Maybe it's because some English people use it as a swear word. Do they do that in Spanish also? - 0095ca4c, Jun 28, 2012
:) - Cordobesa, Jun 28, 2012
Yeah I think that's interesting too. I wouldn't like to be called Jesus, cause it's a Holy Name. - animo, Jun 28, 2012
Gracias, Cordobesa. - duendecillo, Jun 28, 2012
Aaaactually, I've got news for y'all. :) The original name of Jesus (in his native Hebrew) was Joshua, which *is* used in the English speaking world (at least the US, Josh/Joshua). Jesus was the Greek/Latin variant of Joshua. - inkubzz, Jun 28, 2012
- duendecillo, Jun 28, 2012
His real name is not known , it would have been an "Aramaic " name . In the old testament the Messiah was to be named " Emanuel ". - ray76, Jun 29, 2012
De nada, Duendecillo :)) - Cordobesa, Jun 29, 2012
Emanuel, a male given name: from a hebrew word meaning “God is with us.” - rac1, Jun 29, 2012
