can pequeño be used as a term of endearment?

I've recently started dating a spanish girl and my spanish is far from perfect. she addresses me as pequeño in emails, but to me this means small or child. I can't find any example online of pequeño being endearing.

Most likely it is being used as an endearment. I have heard husbands and wives refer to each other as "mi viejito" or "mi viejita." There were not older people either. You could just ask her. wink

Pretty well anything can be used as a term of endearment - believe me it doesn't necessarily have to do with how tall or short you are, it is just something cute to say. I have noticed that Hispano Hablantes love the diminutive or anything that brings you closer and as we have noted already on this forum - a mother can call their child 'gordito' which probably means something like 'my little dumpling' and no one takes offence, it is cute!
