Porque lo has hecho VS Porque lo hiciste

Do these two sentences carry an identical meaning? I know in English "Why have you done it" is said very often, but I think in Spanish it is the same "Why did you do it". I think they are virtually identical in meaning. Any thoughts? Gracias.

Sí, en español es lo mismo, la regla del inglés no se aplica.

Pero es más corriente he hecho en mi tierra, así que debes usar hiciste
