How to say "inital appointment" and "follow up appointment"

The use will be in regards to visiting a doctors. Having attended the inital visit (when the doctor first sees patient) and the follow up appointments (where doctors monitors paitent)

I think it may be different in different countries, besides 'cita' sometimes they just say 'hora' like 'Tengo hora a las nueve' for 'I have a doctor's aptmt at 9. Make an appointment - 'pedir hora'
