I am having trouble with the italicized part of this sentence.

...la novela está caracterizada por la "soledad, violencia, frustración y sufrimiento, enmascarados, pero no del todo escondidos por las aventuras...

...masked (refering to the preceeding characteristics), but not hidden from everyone by the adventures..

Does this mean that the adventures have masked the suffering, etc., but not completely hidden it from everyone?

Muchas gracias por su ayuda.

Ok, your problem here is that you are misunderstanding "del todo". It does not mean "everyone", but "altogether".

So the quote means:

"...suffering, masked, but not hidden altogether, by the adventures"

Gracias. Is this an idiom? - Delores--Lindsey, ABR 26, 2010
Not really. That's just the way you say "altogether" or in some cases "quite" (as in not quite...) "masked, but not quite hidden, by..." - Gekkosan, ABR 26, 2010
