How do you say: "My mom likes to take care of her animals"?

I am in Spanish 1 and I am doing a project on family trees and I am describing my mom. She is a vet. I just can't seem to remember the Spanish verb for "to take care of" and its not any of the verbs I see in any of the translators anywhere.
