Quiero decir "We had to change the mast and replace a lot of the ropes".

¿Como se dice "A lot of the ropes"?

¿"Muchas de las cuerdas", o "Muchas cuerdas"?

¡Gracias!

replace a lot of the ropes

Your nautical friends would probably take exception to your use of "ropes". In a nautical context, "lines", "sheets", "halyards" would be much better.(I have no idea how to make these distinctions in Spanish but I suspect that Spanish speaking seafarers have their own specialized vocabulary.)

Give me solutions, not problems! ;-) I agree - as a former professional sailor, I'm fully conversant with the technical terms, but for my intermediate oral exam, I decided to keep things simple for now! - jlavery, FEB 2, 2010
