Can Merece mi amor be directed towards a person? Or just to a material item?

Can I say merece mi amor towards somebody? Or about something inanimate?

You could say, for example, "Esta casa se merece mi mejor cargo" (This house deserves my best care), but "Love" wouldn't make sense. "Amor" is for living things.
