Well I was having an email conversation with a relative from Mexico and she used the word "esguinse" and I have no Idea what it means.

The spelling is incorrect, that's why you can't find it:

Esguince

esguince.

(Der. del lat. vulg. exquinti're, desgarrar).

John was quite right, your friend was talking a bout some kind of muscle strain, normally the ankle.

Never heard it but the site dictionary says;sprain,muscle strain,;Also swerve,scowll, dodge.hacerse un esguinse en el tobillo;to sprain one's ankle.Does that make any sense to you'
