Im trying to decipher a line in the poem El remordimiento by Borges:

Mis padres me engendraron para el juego arriesgado y hermoso de la vida

From the dictionary definitions and the wording above I read that as the parents fostered and cultivated the ideas of the beauty of life, etc. The defintions listed in this dictionary seemed more abstract than concrete as in terms of physical procreation.
