Here are my English translations of all the example sentences of Lesson 4.4. "Giving Excuses with the Conditional Perfect"

Please review and correct as you see fit -- are these the English translations everyone else got? There are a couple I am not sure about.

Examples of Excuses:

(I would have arrived on time, but my car was broke down in a ditch.)

(You would have loaned me your car, but it was in the shop for repaires.) -- this one is strange for me.

(Howard would have used the jumper cables, but he didn't know how to use them.)

(We would have called a tow truck, but we didn't have a cell phone.)

(My buddies would have come, but they were arrested for parking in the median.)

Examples of "probably or must have" :

(Lucy would have put the flashlight in the tool box next to the shovel.) --- I am not sure about this.

(It must have been three when we got to the gas station.) --- I am not sure about this.

More Examples:

(We would have arrived on time, but the car needed motor oil.)

(I would have brought your present, but I left it in the glove box.)

(Howard would have given you the first aid kit for your birthday, but I didn't allow it.) -- sounds like something I would do.

(If the car had not been on the shoulder, the tow truck never would have found us.) --- I am not sure about this.

(If I had used the pressure gage, I would not have needed the tire iron.)

Can you link me to it? I dont even know where to look... - Heidita

I don't know how to "link".

Go to the Lesson Section 4 and Lesson 4.4 in the "Watch" portion of the lesson. These are the Spanish all the example sentences from that lesson.

On your English I could only find this:

You would have loaned me your car, but it was in the workshop

(Lucy must have put the flashlight in the tool box next to the shovel.)

(If the car had not been on the shoulder, the tow truck never would have found us.) correct, though the original lacks the no and makes no sense
