I've got it, 3 people!. Number 1 is the father of Number 2, who is the father of Number 3. Number 1 & 2 are fathers and Nos. 2 & 3 are sons.

There is more than one answer to the way the question is stated. 3 and 4 in my opinion. If the questioner stated that it was a riddle, or the number of passengers is odd, or the answer is not the obvious 4 or even what is the minimum number of people travelling then the exact nature of the question would have been made clearer. Otherwise it looks like a simple homework question.

A simple homework question. Teachers were simpler than this when I went to school in the last century. Glad thats behind me. - Moe, OCT 24, 2009

I think it is a straight answer of four seeing if you can count 2+2 in Spanish. Unless you count "jack" in the boot (or trunk), then it is five, hehe.

"Jack" Inthetrunk. Yes, I think he is related to Jack Inthebox. How did this pop up?? - Moe, OCT 24, 2009

I am thinking *four** unless the sentence riddles asked this...."True or False: En un automóvil Toyota viajan dos padres y dos hijos, per hay tres personas viajan en el automóvil. And then the answer was true." Or something like that.....I believe the way it is stated, there could be multiple answers depending on your thought process. smile jeje, what a brain-waker-upper!

O.K., Daniel. But, dos "padres" or parents = mom + pop. Then, 1 set padres (2 persons) + 2 kids = 4. Whaddya think?? -

Seems like "both parents" would be "ambos padres" then mom + pop would be correct. It is a riddle and a play on words. Who knows what is correct until we get a answer. - Daniel, OCT 24, 2009

I say 6 people:

  • 2 sets of parents = 4
  • Each set of parents has 1 child (2 boys or one boy one girl) = 2

So the total is 6 (4 adults and 2 kids)

There is more to it than that. The answers are never that easy and I have to try and explain the answer once I figure it out. - goddesscarlye, OCT 24, 2009
Looking forward to hearing the answer...... - 00515f39, OCT 24, 2009
