to say the pump, is it better to say "la bomba" or "el bombeo". La bomba also means the bomb, so I don't want it to be misunderstood. Any suggestions?

Bombeo is the action of pumping like estación de bombeo - "Pumping Station". So the pump would be una bomba and as a well is un pozo, I would say it could be "una bomba para bombear un pozo (de agua)", unless of course they one word for it.

And, suddenly, the spanish for fireman (un bombero) makes sense.

  • Hi, what's your profession?
  • I'm a water-pumper (un bombero).

Just being funny. smile

pump

This site tends to use the feminine bomba for all kinds of pumps: bomba de agua

But that´s a general water pump, not specific to a well. - Eddy, AGO 27, 2009
