In a sentence, would arroz have la or el in front of it?

It's a homework assignment. Is the word arroz, feminine or mascular? Does it have la or el in front of it?

You can look up "arroz" in the dictionary and it will tell you if it's a feminine or masculine noun.

That does not always answer the question if the word is feminine. See my post in what appears to be the same question.

Of course, in this situation the word turns out to be masculine so the exception is moot.
