In the flashcards section a woman´s purse is described using the masculine noun "el bolso."

Isn´t a man´s wallet referred to as "el bolso" and a woman´s purse referred to as "la bolsa?"

a man's wallet is usually called a cartera.

A woman's handbag or purse is el bolso.

la bolsa is the more generic term for bag.

Notice in this RAE definition of a purse (bolso) they say that it is a handbag (bolsa de mano) using the more generic term for bag.

bolso. (De bolsa1). 1. m. bolsillo (? del dinero). 2. m. bolsillo (? de los vestidos). 3. m. Bolsa de mano generalmente pequeña, de cuero, tela u otras materias, provista de cierre y frecuentemente de asa, usada especialmente por las mujeres para llevar dinero, documentos, objetos de uso personal, etc. 4. m. Mar. Seno que por la acción del viento se forma en las velas cuando se efectúan en ellas ciertas maniobras, como las de cargar o arrizar.
