Hot Posts
Some members have complained that recently answered posts do not get "bumped" back to the top of the page. I am pleased to say that this has been addressed by the modification of the "Hot" posts under "Answers". This sub category will now bump up all recently answered posts, thereby keeping all interesting threads alive. I am sure that this will not be one of them.

Hi Samdie Please look the replies to this thread.
I'm still struggling with the answer/comment difference. In the past, I often posted what was (in essences) a comment on a particular response (a correction, amplification, dissenting opinion). When I wanted to address the general topic of the thread (the question posed by the original poster), I would use "Reply". However, when the focus was on someone else's reply, I would "Quote" (some or all) of that reply and direct my "comment" to that specific part. Doing the latter has become very difficult under the new regime. When using the "comment" box, the various tools (bold/italic/colors/strike-throughs, etc.) are not available nor is there any way to indicate that I intend my comment to apply to part of the text.
Answers, comments, edits, and votes all currently bump a thread to the top of "hot".
Does that sound appropriate? What do you think should bump a thread?
Marianne says that new comments will "bump" the discussion up the list.
How about edits of replies?
I can see how this could be abused if you wished to keep your thread at the top of the list.
As with most forums, I would assume edits would not bump the thread

I think it's an improvement that many members will appreciate, Heidi for one.
