| I'm a firefighter for the city of Evansville, Indiana, US. We are starting to see a large number of Hispanic in our area. Being a firefighter and someone who takes pride in my ability to help others in their time of need, I chose to learn Spanish as another way to further help the public in which I serve. Also, I went to Playa Del Carmen on my Honeymoon and hated the fact that I could not understand what was going on around me. Upon my return, I went to the library, got some books along with some audio CD's for the car, and enrolled in a Spanish class at a local church. I still have much to learn and welcome every learning opportunity I can find. I go through spells of frustration and take breaks from time to time at varied lengths. The urge to learn always pulls me back in. I feel I would make better progress if I had someone to talk to on a daily basis. | |
