| I'm a mental health counselor and an artist. I do woodburning and painting on flutes my husband makes. In July of 2009 me and my son Sam (who was 9 then) spent 5 weeks in Oaxaca, 4 of them in a school in the city of Oaxaca "Espanol Interactivo". I got enough Spanish to build on (I hope!) but I am still just a beginner. Only rarely do I have the words for what I want to say. But I can't express in words the passion i bring to practicing Spanish every day. I have wanted to speak another language all my life and it has seemed hopeless - I have no natural ability at all. Now, I am struggling (it feels like against the odds) to at the least hang on to what I gained in Oaxaca. It feels like it could slip away so easily! Sometimes my son will practice with me, but I am very isolated, so I am grateful for this site and for you all. | |
