A la hora de traducir par (de) seguido de un sustantivo, hay que tener en cuenta la diferencia entre pair (of) y couple (of).
pardepairofcoupleofSe traduce por pair (of) cuando nos referimos a objetos que normalmente se usan por pares:
pairofpares ... tres pares de guantes ... ... three pairs of gloves ...;... three pairs of gloves ...
Voy a necesitar dos pares más de calcetines I'll need two more pairs of socks
Lo traducimos por couple (of) en los demás casos, en los que un par de se puede emplear además en el sentido más vago de "dos o más de dos":
