Ley de Ordenación General del Sistema Educativo
Spain's Ley de Ordenación General del Sistema Educativo (1990) provided for a new educational system which began to be implemented in the 1991-92 academic year. Amongst other things, it raised the school-leaving age from 14 to 16 and introduced compulsory vocational training for all students. Religious education became optional and special-needs provision was incorporated into mainstream education. Following the implementation of the LOGSE, compulsory education is divided into Educación Primaria (EP) and Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO).
