Translating a poem: Si no te miro Invade la oscuridad mi alma

My mother received a framed picture as a gift and it also has a poem written in Spanish. We do not speak Spanish and I have tried to make sense of it using the translator engine, but I believe we are missing out on a lot of it's meaning. If anyone could help we would surely appreciate it. I should also mention that there is also a picture on it of a small child crying and he/she is wearing partial clown makeup. all of those verbs ending in ia like haría, ahogaría, amaría, escribiría, sería are conditional tense=would do, would suffocate, would love, would write, would be. insistería, recordaría would insist,would remind

This is rather word for word translation, almost as bad as the machine translation, but not quite. Wait for someone fluent to help you.

Thanks again and yes, the translation is now very clear. That last part was supposed to be funny, but it is true too. The poem seems to change in the middle and I don't understand it completely. Is it someone that he can't tell he loves her, but is with her all the time in some other capacity anyway? I am assuming that might have something to do with my rusty reading comprehension abilities. Also, I thought you were suggesting to change "would not" to something else not realizing you had already corrected it. Sorry.

the wbole poem is rather romantic, a man saying to a woman if he was not with her, if he could not see her every day, his life would be miserable. And he would write her letters and she would see that nobody loved her more than he does.

this is it in a nutshell. It is said directly to a woman, as far as the context goes and the woman is sort of listening to her beloved.

I do wonder what the clown means, no idea.
