I think we need some context. Can you put it in a sentece? Are you spelling it from how you heard it pronounced or have you seen the written word? The te could be an attached pronoun. If you are writing it from sound it might start with an H or a J, something like herir, but that doesn't actually work.

It was listed on a Spanish Census from 1834 used as a first name. The census was and is displayed as such.
Rovet, Juan S. head of household
Eriete wife
Leonardo son
Calit, Juan S. son
Going forward to other census, 1835 they list the wife as Maria Garrett.
