"I'll try my best" = "Haré lo mejor posible"
"I'm a freshman" = "Soy estudiante de primer año"
"I'm considering a minor" = "Estoy contemplando estudiar [algo] como especialización secundaria" (Very long, I know.)

Don't quote me on these. wink The first one still has me a bit stumped.

Since Lady Di did the rest, I'd say "Me especializo en ..." or "Mi campo es ..."

Mi especialización secundaria es...

how would you say 'In order to graduate I need to take a certain amount of electives.?

  1. Para graduarme necesito hacer algunos cursos optativos.
  2. Para graduarme necesito hacer un cierto número de cursos optativos.

Number 1 is used if by "a certain number of" you mean "some," and 2 if you mean "a fixed quantity of."
