This guy seems to believe he know the difference, but if you can make any sense out of his technical jargon or poor examples then you're more patient than I am.

This one is a little more coherent.
A lot of it has to do with your manner of speaking, for me, unos is usally used when the "some" is more of a definite number where algunos is when "some" is more of an indefinite number.

no difference. It all depends on how you use it but like I said, no difference..
Algunos de nosotros somos altos....some of us are tall
unos de nosotros somos altos....someo of us are tall....
