I would say "anfitriona".

The hostess of a party or the hostess that works in a bar? (if, indeed, they are not the same in Spanish).

Anfitriona is to my opinion the right choise. The one making all the preparations for an activity.

The hostess that works in a bar/restaurant. I am referring to my job.

Is it a more elevated job description than simply "camarera"? Is "hostess" an american term for bar tender? wink Or is it something like Head Waiter'
