brasa - ember
grasa - greasy
tasa - rate/fee
crasa - crass
escasa - scant
rasa - flat/level
gasa - gauze
masa - mass
pasa - raisin
Any verb ending in -asar in the 3rd person conjugation. For example:
pasar - pasa - h/s/y passes
amasar - amasa - k/s/y kneads
basar - basa - h/s/y bases
asar - asa - h/s/y roast
tasar - tasa - h/s/y values
atrasar - atrasa - h/s/y puts back
soasar - soasa - h/s/y roasts lightly
There are more, but that should be a good start!

  • "la masa" (noun) also means "dough" or "batter". Also, "la asa" (noun) refers to one of the handles of a two-handled pot. - asdfghjkl4 Feb 19, 2010 flag

Thanks Manutd. You know I had never come across the word soasar. I knew asar but not soasar. So i have learned something today. 'Tis good.

Just be aware that 'pasa' is a short form for 'pasa de uva' and very commonly used in spite of what follows

a full definition of pasa is
pasa: Se dice de la fruta extendida al sol para secarse, y también de la desecada por cualquier otro procedimiento: higo paso; uva, ciruela pasa
so pasa in theory should be any dry fruit but it normally refers to raisins.
sometimes we would use the word seco/a (dry) to refer to dry fruits eg higos secos, or even generically frutas secas. Pasa is very Castillian when used for anything other than raisins.
