Cual es la regla que queda con lo que sigue? (subjuntivo)

Question

Hace unos dias mi novia y yo estabamos en la casa de su abuela. Mi novia me estaba molestando, y su abuela le dijo algo a mi novia. Le dijo a ella:

"dejalo comer como quiera."

Respecto a la regla gramatical, me imagino que se pone en practica el subjuntivo debido a la influencia que lleva el mandato, pero ni en mis clases que he tomado ni en mis libros se encuentra informacion sobre todo esto.

Pero, a mi si me parece igual a voluntad/influencia, porque en realidad o decir "dejalo..." o "quiero que lo dejes..." significa lo mismo.

dejalo es imperativo como orden pero no se considera como algo agresivo.

Las dos frases significan lo mismo. El uso de una sobre la otro queda en preferencia, but dejalo is a command, and quiero, well, it signifies 'my desire is'.. Insisto que lo dejes comer como quiera would send quite a clear message. There is a gap between grammatical rules and practice. That is the reason translations are so difficult and cannot be exact. Culture and usage affect rules sometimes; I bet that is, at least partially, how rules became rules. The realms of usage and logic do not always agree. Gracias por un dialogo interesante. Dejalo comer... = dejar is in the imperative because Granny is giving an order to your girlfriend
....como quiera = querer is in the subjuntive because the clause that begins with "como" is setting up an unknown or non-specific comparison. When that happens, you have to use the subjunctive.

In English we would use the words "however" or "whichever" to transmit the same idea.
For example, Granny's statement in English would be: "Let him eat however he wants."

Another example:
Haz la sopa como puedas porque no tengo ni idea de cocina.
Make the soup whichever way you can because I have no clue when it comes to cooking.
Make the soup however you can because I'm clueless about cooking.
