For the question mark: you can type Alt-168 (if you have a PC). Also see "Typing Spanish" under "Rules/Resources," above.

  1. Be aware that you are using usted form and that your adjective is for a male person.
  2. I think the sentence sounds better with "hoy" on the end, but I am not a native speaker.
  3. You may also consider using: malhumorado.
  4. Finally, you probaby want to use estar, not ser here. Using ser implies that the person is characteristically grouchy, not just grouchy today.

¿Por qué está enojado hoy'

I agree with Natasha and you could also add an interjection like ¡Caray! or ¡Caramba! to put emphasis on your statement.
Another expression is= ¡Caray¡ ¿Por qué está de mal humor hoy'

I Aree with Natasha and látigo ; mexicans also use de word Gruñón, in some cases like
¿Por qué andas tan gruñón (gruñóna for female) hoy?
¿Y ahora por qué tan gruñón(gruñóna)?
but it depends who you are talking to, these are to use with someone close to you (Not for a stranger or your boss, OK>)and it's not disrespectful, ok.
